DigitalSD420EncodeBlade
VELA
The Vela SD Encoder Blades are the most cost
effective hardware based broadcast quality
encoding solutions on the market today. With
it’s low entry price and highly efficient MPEG-2
and MPEG-4 SP/ASP encoding engines, these
systems are unmatched in their flexibility and
performance. The SD Ecnoder Blade can simita-
neously encode broadcast quality MPEG-2 while
providing a proxy MPEG-4...all in hardware.
With powerful hardware encoding technology,
the SD Encoder Blade supports GOP structures
up to IBBBP 129 (that is 129 frames long), this
encoder can easily produce high quality MPEG-
2 Full Resolution (720 x 480 NTSC or 720 x 576
PAL) streams at 1.5 Mbps and lower!
The Digital SD Encoder Blade accepts SDI,
Composite, and Component video inputs.
Audio inputs are SDI Embedded, Digital AES or
Analog input. Discreet XLR audio inputs are
jumper selectable to be Balanced or Unbalanced. It also supports the capture of ATSC 608 Line
21 Closed Captions and (optionally) EIA 708B Closed Captioning from the SDI VANC.
The Digital SD Encoder Blade uses longitudinal time code (LTC) and/or VITC inputs for
frame accurate encode triggering. Control of a VTR through BVW (Sony 9 pin protocol) is also
supported.
RecordAdvantage™, a robust graphical user interface (GUI), allows for ease of operation with-
in a time-saving and user-friendly encoding environment.
With this system there are no concerns about hardware compatibility, searching endlessly for
third party drivers, or loading software components from multiple vendors. The Analog SD
Encoder Blade is truly a turn key system that includes pre-loaded and pre-configured soft-
ware, rack rails, Encoder Audio and Video Breakout Cable, RS 232 to RS 422 adapter, and
Serial Cable so that you can simply unbox the blade and be up and running in minutes.
