  Dotted Strip

Celebrating ten years of leadership with superior MPEG encoding and decoding products, Emmy® award-winner Vela was honored with receiving a NAB Award for Innovation in Media(AIM) at the NAB2004 Conference and Exhibition recently held in Las Vegas. Vela was recognized in the Content Delivery category of AIM awards for its' CineView® Quad multi-channel MPEG decoder.

The second annual AIM awards recognize groundbreaking technological product innovations that best address current and upcoming issues in the electronic media industry by boosting efficiency, increasing user flexibility and creativity and lowering costs.

"Winning the AIM award is especially significant because it is decided by the attendees of the NAB convention -- our peers, our customers, all the professionals and experts working in the broadcast industry," said Vela Vice President Michele Capps. "It reinforces Vela's leadership in the industry over the past 10 years, producing technologically advanced products that meet customer requirements now and in the future."

Vela's CineView Quad PCI decoder truly represents how technological innovation can address critical market issues for users of electronic media, as recognized by the AIM awards - flexibility, efficiency, creativity and cost. User flexibility on the CineView Quad is characterized by a variety of features, including multi-channel support up to 16 independent channels in a single PC, ability to play MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, scaling options to 480p, 720p and 1080i, PAL and NTSC support and the choice of Linux or Microsoft Windows. Trick playback modes also allow for flexible video management with pause, fast forward, slow and rewind capabilities, as well as options for a ready-to-use end user GUI, PlayAdvantage or SDK for application development.

Efficiency is maximized through hardware and software optimization, reducing CPU utilization while providing high-quality and reliable decoding of video and audio. Users can unleash their creativity through the full OSD (On Screen Display) graphics overlay or text messaging capabilities available with 256 color selections, alpha graphic blending and region highlighting for creation of interactive menus. All these exceptional capabilities are available for a surprisingly low cost, further endorsing the CineView Quad as the industry choice when it comes to multi-channel decoding.

"As the professionals who are using broadcasting technologies day in and day out, NAB attendees are in a unique position to recognize the hottest products emerging into the marketplace. The NAB would like to extend its congratulations to all of the 2004 AIM winners who received this esteemed recognition," said NAB President and CEO Edward O. Fritts.
